Short Form Birth Abstract (With Raised Seal)
A Birth Abstract is a certified birth certificate with a raised seal that can typically be used for passport, social security, driver license, school registration, personal identification, and most other legal purposes. These certified copies are available for currently filed births that occurred anywhere in the State of Texas from 1926 to present.
NOTE: In some instances, Birth Abstracts may not be accepted for passport issuance. If you are applying for a passport we suggest that you purchase a Long Form birth certificate. This office is able to issue Long Form birth certificates ONLY for persons born in the City of Austin from 1940 to present.
Birth Certificate - Long Form (With Raised Seal)
A Long Form birth certificate is a certified birth certificate with a raised seal that can typically be used for travel, passport, proof of citizenship, social security, driver license, school registration, personal identification, and other legal purposes. Long Form certificates are available for currently filed births that occurred in the City of Austin from 1940 to present. NOTE: Due to past record-keeping issues, birth certificates are not available for the years 1957 through 1960.
